In Tyler, shops are busiest on Monday mornings and before holiday weekends, so a mid-week appointment gets a car seen faster. Labor rates across Texas vary by neighborhood and by shop type, from small independents to dealership service bays, and mobile mechanics now cover many routine jobs in the driveway. Before authorizing a repair, ask for the estimate in writing, whether the shop warranties parts and labor (12 months / 12,000 miles is common, some offer more), and whether it can provide a loaner or a shuttle. Check the listing for hours, the makes the shop works on and its Google rating, then call ahead, since walk-in capacity is limited at smaller shops.
Hours are published for 5 days a week. The most common schedule is 8 amβ5 pm. It is closed on Saturday, Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (903) 597-2441. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, mabbcomotors.com.
Its Google rating stands at 3.1 out of 5 from 430 reviews, which is below average for the category; consider the recent reviews carefully before visiting.
Tyler is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Tyler follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

stay away. stay far far away. read the reviews, they are accurate and mine is very similar to the other unsatisfied customers. I've waited 10 weeks for a motor, still not complete. Called 2 weeks ago and was told "it'll be ready in 2 weeks." Called today and was told the same thing. Zero accountability from them, and as a customer I have no recourse other than to pay a 20% fee (about $400) to cancel my order. So I'd lose $400 and 10-12 weeks of time for the pleasure of receiving nothing from this outfit. My motor might be ready 12 weeks from payment, or it might be 30 weeks, and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. the lack of accountability is alarming. buy your motors elsewhere.

Purchased a short block 289 engine from Mabbco. Received in a timely manner, found no issues with the engine. Once installed , it started immediately. Currently, only have about 200 miles on engine but still have had no issues. Would recommend using Mabbco for any engine builds.

Donβt ever buy an engine kit from these guys. The main customer service guy is pretty nice, however I was sent a rebuilt kit and all the wrist pins were so far off in different weight that the crankshaft shop would use them to do the balancing. I asked multiple times for replacements and they suggested the crankshaft shop take more off the rods and pistons. The amount needed to balance the engine correctly would have left the pistons paper thin. Maabco didnβt give a shit. I will never recommend this company to anyone. If you want things done right buy name brand not from this place.

You be the judge and look at the pics. I installed the long block in my 1960 Thunderbird, fired it up, and the rear main was pouring oil. I pulled the engine and this is what was done to the rear cap. No rubber gasket and pin, just some half ass RTV that didn't even fill all the slot. They do not take pride in their work.

Starting to sound like broken records with reviews on this company, this one is not much different. I own a full-service automotive and Marine repair service shop. I found this company selling engines of all kinds makes and models for all kinds of applications on eBay of all places. This particular long block that I purchased showed to be in stock and would ship out within 2 weeks. I delivered that information to my customer and they were excited to get their vintage ski boat back up and going. After approximately one week of putting in the order they finally decided to finalize the sale. This is a pretty simple but some what you need engine order as it is a Ford 302 reverse rotation. Almost exactly 12 Weeks later the motor finally shows up. As a long block, I had to transfer all of the parts from the original motor to this motor which meant I had to clean everything up like new and it worked out pretty well from that point. Until, after getting it up and running during the break-in process less than 10 minutes later it lost all oil pressure and started hammering away on the top end. I immediately shut it down and reached out to the warranty company which by the way is nothing but
